Secondary Maths Teacher: Haverhill and Surrounding Areas

We are experiencing high demand for dedicated Mathematics specialists to deliver inspiring lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with Key Stage 5 / A:Level opportunities also available).

Long:Term Opportunities

If you prefer building ongoing relationships with departments and students, we offer fixed:term subject placements spanning a term or a full academic year. These roles allow you to teach your core subject, track progress, and embed yourself fully within a school community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, well:structured Mathematics lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering problem:solving skills, numerical confidence, and exam readiness.
  • Create a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment using effective behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Differentiate learning resources and delivery to support students with diverse learning abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or high prior attainment.
  • Leave clear, professional handover notes for regular class teachers when fulfilling day:to:day cover assignments.
  • For long:term roles: take full responsibility for planning, preparing, marking, assessing student progress against GCSE specifications, attending department meetings, and participating in parents evenings as required.

What We Look For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (or recognised UK teaching qualification).
  • Specialist subject knowledge in Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 is a bonus).
  • Strong classroom management skills and the confidence to step into dynamic secondary environments.
  • An adaptable, punctual, and professional approach with excellent communication skills.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
