About This Role
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Classroom Teacher of Maths to join our team at Maiden Erlegh School.
Second in Department
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled classroom practitioner who is passionate about Mathematics and committed to helping every student achieve their potential. You will plan, resource and deliver highly effective lessons, contribute to curriculum development and create a safe, purposeful and ambitious learning environment in which students can make strong progress and achieve high academic standards.
You will use a range of effective teaching approaches to engage students, promote enjoyment of Mathematics and overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will establish positive professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents and carers and will contribute positively to the wider life of the school and Trust.

Key Responsibilities
As a Classroom Teacher of Maths, you will:
- Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality Maths lessons that engage, challenge and inspire students.
- Create a purposeful and inclusive classroom environment where all students are supported to make strong progress and achieve high academic standards.
- Use a range of effective teaching strategies to meet differing needs and overcome barriers to learning.
- Assess students’ knowledge, understanding and progress, using this information to inform future teaching and support improvement.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and achievement, creating a safe and positive environment for learning.
- Contribute to the development and effective delivery of the Maths curriculum.
- Build positive and professional relationships with students, parents, carers and colleagues.
- Direct and work effectively with support staff assigned to lessons to help students access learning successfully.
- Contribute to tutor provision and support students’ wider personal development and wellbeing.
- Take an active role in the wider life of the school, including enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the sharing of effective practice within the school and across the wider Trust.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people, following all relevant school and Trust policies and procedures.

The Ideal Candidate
You will be an enthusiastic and reflective teacher who is passionate about Mathematics and committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
You Will
- Hold a good quality degree, a PGCE or equivalent qualification in secondary education, and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Be a skilled classroom practitioner with the ability to deliver engaging and effective lessons.
- Have high expectations of students and a strong commitment to securing excellent progress and achievement.
- Be able to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
- Communicate clearly and effectively and build positive professional relationships with students, colleagues, parents and carers.
- Be organised, reliable and able to manage workload and competing priorities effectively.
- Be confident using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.
- Be collaborative, approachable and willing to work positively with colleagues and support staff.
- Be committed to ongoing professional learning and developing your own practice.
- Be enthusiastic about contributing to the wider and extra-curricular life of the school.

Maiden Erlegh School (MES)
Maiden Erlegh School is a highly successful comprehensive school for students aged 11–18, located in Lower Earley, near Reading. Relationships between students and staff are extremely positive, and students are keen, curious, respectful and ambitious.
