Reach for Inclusion is a specialist alternative education and training provider supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and those disengaged from traditional education. Working across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, the organization offers personalised, nurturing and inclusive learning environments focused on relationships, wellbeing, and individual progress. Reach for Inclusion delivers tailored programmes from primary through post-16, including alternative provision, vocational learning, recognised qualifications, employability skills, and preparation for adulthood. Role Description
The Maths Tutor role is a part time, on-site, student facing position based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. The tutor will provide high-quality maths tuition to children and young people, adapting teaching methods and resources to meet diverse needs, including SEND and SEMH. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering individual and small-group lessons, monitoring progress, providing regular feedback, and preparing learners for formal and informal assessments. The role involves working collaboratively with other staff and external professionals, contributing to personalised learning plans, and maintaining accurate records of attendance, attainment, and wellbeing. The Maths Tutor will also support learners in building confidence, developing problem-solving skills, and engaging positively with education, in line with Reach for Inclusion’s inclusive and nurturing ethos.

Qualifications
- Strong subject knowledge and practical experience in Mathematics and Algebra.
- Experience in Tutoring or Teaching, with the ability to differentiate instruction for varied learning needs.
- Effective Communication skills, including the ability to build trusting relationships with young people, families, and colleagues.
- Experience or training in supporting learners with SEND and SEMH needs in educational settings.
- Relevant teaching or tutoring qualification (e.g., degree in Mathematics or related field, PGCE, Level 3+ teaching/tutoring qualification) is highly desirable.
- Strong classroom management skills and a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to behaviour and wellbeing.
- Ability to plan engaging lessons, track progress, and use data to inform teaching strategies.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain) and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
