Mathnasium of Glasgow South specializes in maths-only instruction using a focused, caring, and fun approach that helps learners achieve strong results. The centre proudly supports local communities and schools across the East Renfrewshire area, working with learners from primary through secondary levels. Instruction is personalized to each learner’s needs, building confidence and understanding in core mathematical concepts. Team members contribute to a supportive environment where learners feel encouraged, challenged, and motivated to succeed. The centre values a friendly, professional atmosphere that promotes both academic progress and enjoyment of maths.
Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site Maths Tutor role based in Newton Mearns. The Maths Tutor will provide face-to-face instruction to primary and secondary learners using Mathnasium’s proven teaching methods and materials. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Conducting structured lessons
- Guiding learners through practice problems
- Monitoring progress
- Offering constructive feedback
The tutor will help maintain a positive, engaging learning environment, manage small-group sessions, and support learners with different levels of ability and confidence. Additional tasks may include:
- Collaborating with other tutors
- Communicating learner progress to the centre leadership
- Assisting with general centre activities as needed
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in maths at secondary level or beyond, with the ability to explain concepts clearly across a range of ages.
- Experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring young learners, with a patient and encouraging approach.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport and motivate learners.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple learners, track progress, and follow structured lesson plans.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful learning environment for learners of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Availability to work part-time, including after-school hours and possibly weekends, as required by the centre schedule.

Desirable:
- Coursework or degree in mathematics, education, or a related field
- Prior experience in a learning centre or school setting
- Familiarity with the Scottish curriculum
