Job Title: Sexual Health Matron

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Sexual Health Matron to provide visible, compassionate, and effective leadership across the axess sexual health & HIV services in Liverpool, Cheshire East, Warrington, Halton, and Knowsley.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership to clinic managers.
  • Ensure high standards of governance, patient safety, quality improvement, and service performance while working under local and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Provide professional and operational assurance and deputise for the Assistant Director of Nursing when required.
  • Provide robust governance and CQC-ready oversight using workforce, quality, performance, incident, and risk data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and monitor action plans and ensure timely escalation where required.
  • Be adept in risk and incident management, ensuring learning is embedded across the services.
  • Present clear assurance, trends, risks, and improvement actions at governance meetings.

Requirements:

  • Drive consistent standards, patient safety, quality improvement, workforce development, and service transformation.
  • Provide highly visible leadership and champion an excellent patient experience.
  • Act as a senior professional representative for the service, developing and maintaining effective relationships with external partners and service stakeholders.
  • Contribute to strategic discussions and service development.
  • Share best practice.

  • The Royal Liverpool University Hospital: The largest hospital in the country to provide inpatients with 100% single en-suite bedrooms and mainly focuses on complex planned care and specialist services.
