The Role

The Maximo Developer will provide technical development, configuration and support for the organisation's IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS – Manage) platform, ensuring it effectively supports railway asset management, maintenance delivery, safety, compliance and performance reporting.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide BAU 2nd/3rd line support for MAS by diagnosing and resolving incidents, data issues, workflow failures and performance problems to ensure the system remains stable, reliable and fully operational for users.
  • Design, configure and develop MAS solutions by using Application Designer, Database Configuration, Security Groups, Workflow Designer and Automation Scripts (Python) to deliver robust, maintainable solutions that meet business and operational needs.
  • Deliver project‑related MAS work by implementing new functionality, supporting process re‑engineering, and carrying out MAS upgrades and platform changes to enhance system capability and ensure MAS evolves in line with organisational requirements.
  • Develop and support system integrations by using Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), APIs and messaging patterns to build and maintain interfaces, to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability across systems.
  • Support key railway operational processes by enabling and maintaining processes such as safety‑critical maintenance, defect/fault management, planned and cyclic maintenance, and linear asset management to ensure MAS supports safe, compliant and efficient railway operations.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation by creating and updating technical designs, configuration documents, test evidence and release notes, to provide traceability, support governance and enable consistent technical delivery.
  • Support testing and deployment activities by assisting with system testing, UAT, deployment tasks and post‑implementation support to ensure changes are delivered smoothly and function correctly in production.
  • Work closely with functional leads by collaborating to improve data quality, usability and system performance to ensure MAS continues to meet operational needs and delivers value to users.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement by analysing processes, highlight inefficiencies and propose simplifications or automation to reduce manual effort, improve reliability and enhance user experience.
  • Take accountability for the technical quality and stability of MAS solutions by applying best practices, following design standards and ensuring solutions are supportable to maintain a resilient system that can be effectively managed long‑term.
  • Ensure developments comply with safety, audit and governance requirements by following railway standards, document decisions and adhere to mandatory controls to maintain regulatory compliance and protect operational safety.
  • Maintain data integrity across key MAS modules by supporting accurate data management for assets, locations, work management, inventory and purchasing to ensure reliable reporting, decision‑making and operational effectiveness.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor by providing expert guidance to business stakeholders and project teams to support informed decision‑making and ensure solutions align with technical best practice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
