Job Description

Alexander McQueen is a British luxury fashion house founded by Lee Alexander McQueen in 1992. In 2001, the house joined the Kering Group and, since December 2023, is under the creative direction of Seán McGirr.

How will you contribute?

  • With the direction of the Head of Footwear, support the design process for women's footwear from concept to final product, including sketching, prototyping, and overseeing the creation of technical specifications.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of fashion trends, market demands, and competitor products to inform and inspire new designs.
  • Work closely with the Head of Footwear Design, product development suppliers, material suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure design feasibility and quality standards are met.
  • Continuously explore new materials, techniques, and technologies to create innovative and cutting-edge footwear designs.
  • Prepare and present design concepts and collections to the Head of Footwear Design and other stakeholders, articulating the vision and rationale behind each design.
  • Ensure all designs align with the brand’s aesthetic, values, and overall vision, maintaining a cohesive and consistent product line.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality and creativity.
  • Incorporate feedback from internal teams and external partners to refine designs and ensure market readiness.
  • Support on photoshoots and campaigns.

Required Skills:

  • You will be able to demonstrate the desired Alexander McQueen behaviours.
  • Previous experience in women's footwear design within the luxury fashion industry.
  • A Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Fashion Design, Footwear Design, or a related field.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing a range of innovative and high-quality women's footwear designs.
  • Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, CAD programs, and other relevant tools.
  • Exceptional creativity and a keen eye for detail, with a deep understanding of fashion trends and consumer preferences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive during periods of ambiguity.
  • A genuine passion for luxury footwear and a commitment to delivering excellence in design and craftsmanship.

Please note, this role is a maternity cover position and is offered on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension depending on the duration of the maternity cover required.
