MCx / 5G / LTE Testing Contractor – 9 Month Contract
Location: Cambridge – Onsite
Rate: £45–£55 per hour
Duration: 9 months
My client is looking for an experienced Telecoms Test Engineer to support a 9-month project focused on the testing and validation of Mission Critical Communications (MCx) services across 4G/LTE and 5G networks. The role will involve hands-on, end-to-end manual testing of MCx user call features, working across the relevant mobile, IMS and signalling environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute end-to-end manual testing of MCx user call features and services.
- Test 4G/LTE and 5G-based communications and associated functionality.
- Perform testing across IMS and SIP-based environments.
- Analyse network and signalling logs to identify issues and support troubleshooting.
- Execute test cases, document results and raise defects where required.
- Work closely with engineering and development teams to investigate and resolve issues.
- Support testing against relevant telecoms standards and specifications.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with 4G/LTE and/or 5G testing.
- Good understanding of IMS and SIP.
- Commercial experience with MCx / Mission Critical Communications, particularly MCPTT or related services.
- Strong background in manual telecoms testing and validation.
- Experience analysing telecoms/network traces and troubleshooting signalling issues.

Desirable
- Familiarity with 3GPP specifications.
- Experience with Wireshark and telecoms log analysis.
- Experience using Valid8 or similar telecoms testing platforms.
- Knowledge of RTP/RTCP, Diameter or related IMS protocols.
- Experience testing MC-PTT, MC-Video or MC-Data.
Contract Details
- 9-month initial contract.
- £45–£55 per hour, depending on experience.
- Cambridge – fully onsite.
- Immediate/near-term start preferred.
