Global Head of Cyber Reinsurance

We are seeking an exceptional market leader to join the business as Global Head of Cyber Reinsurance. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for defining and executing our cyber reinsurance strategy, leading and developing our cyber proposition, and delivering outstanding outcomes for clients in one of the most dynamic and strategically important areas of the reinsurance market. The successful candidate will combine deep cyber and reinsurance expertise with strong commercial leadership, exceptional market relationships and a track record of originating and growing client relationships.

Working closely with broking, analytics, catastrophe modelling, actuarial and client relationship teams, the Head of Cyber Reinsurance will ensure that clients benefit from the full breadth of Willis Re's capabilities, insight and market access.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Business Leadership

  • Define and execute the global/UK cyber reinsurance strategy, aligned with the wider business strategy and growth ambitions.
  • Identify opportunities for growth across existing and prospective clients, geographies, products and distribution channels.
  • Build a differentiated and market-leading cyber reinsurance proposition.
  • Monitor emerging cyber risks, market capacity, pricing dynamics and structural developments, translating these into actionable opportunities for clients and the business.
  • Represent Cyber within senior leadership discussions and contribute to the broader strategic direction of the reinsurance business.

Client Leadership & Growth

  • Act as a senior strategic adviser to insurers, reinsurers and other key stakeholders on cyber risk and reinsurance strategy.
  • Lead and support the acquisition of significant new cyber reinsurance mandates.
  • Deepen relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities to broaden the range of solutions and services provided.
  • Lead complex client engagements, renewal strategies and senior-level negotiations.
  • Develop Willis Re's profile with senior decision-makers including CEOs, CUOs, Heads of Cyber, Heads of Reinsurance and Boards.

Broking & Market Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of sophisticated cyber reinsurance placements, including proportional and non-proportional structures and innovative risk-transfer solutions.
  • Maintain strong senior relationships with key global reinsurers, capital providers and other market participants.
  • Drive optimal outcomes for clients through market insight, effective negotiation and creative programme design.
  • Partner with analytics and modelling teams to ensure broking recommendations are supported by robust quantitative analysis.
  • Anticipate shifts in appetite and capacity across the reinsurance market and position clients accordingly.

  • Shape Willis Re's point of view on emerging cyber exposures, accumulation risk and systemic cyber events.
  • Partner with analytics, actuarial and modelling specialists to develop innovative approaches to cyber risk quantification and portfolio management.
  • Identify opportunities for alternative capital, structured solutions and new forms of cyber risk transfer.
  • Build Willis Re's external profile through client events, industry forums, conferences and thought leadership.
  • Translate market developments into commercially relevant insights for clients.

People Leadership

  • Build, Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing cyber team.
  • Build succession and capability across the team, creating opportunities for future leaders.
  • Foster a collaborative culture across broking, analytics, client management and adjacent specialty practices.
  • Attract and retain high-calibre cyber reinsurance talent.
  • Create an inclusive, performance-led environment with clear accountability for client, growth and colleague outcomes.

Essential

Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience of leading a cyber, specialty or reinsurance team or practice.
  • Significant experience within cyber insurance/reinsurance, reinsurance broking or a closely related specialty market.
  • Deep understanding of the global cyber insurance and reinsurance market.
  • Strong technical understanding of reinsurance structures and programme design.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading complex negotiations and delivering successful client outcomes.
  • Proven ability to originate, develop and retain significant client relationships.
  • Established senior relationships across the reinsurance market.
  • Strong commercial acumen with evidence of delivering revenue growth.
  • Credibility with senior insurance executives and the ability to operate effectively at Board and C-suite level.
  • Strong people leadership and talent-development capability.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills.

Advantageous

  • Exposure to cyber catastrophe modelling, aggregation management and portfolio analytics.
