London | Hybrid Working | Executive Leadership Opportunity

Are you an experienced investment or credit risk leader looking for a role where your judgement, influence and expertise can genuinely shape strategic decision-making?

We are partnering with a highly respected financial institution seeking a Managing Director, Financial Risk to provide independent oversight and challenge across a substantial portfolio of debt and equity investments. This is a rare opportunity to join the senior leadership team and play a key role in ensuring sustainable growth, disciplined risk-taking and long-term portfolio resilience.

The Opportunity

This role sits at the heart of the organisation's risk framework, acting as a trusted adviser to the Chief Risk Officer, Executive Committee and Board on financial risk matters. The successful candidate will lead a team of experienced risk professionals while helping to shape the future direction of the financial risk function.

A Strong Investment Risk Focus

Investment risk is a critical component of this position.

You will provide independent challenge and oversight across a broad range of debt and equity investment activities, including venture capital, structured finance, securitisations and other complex investments. You'll review underwriting standards, valuation approaches, financial models, portfolio concentrations and downside scenarios, ensuring investment decisions remain aligned to risk appetite and long-term strategic objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
