We are seeking an accomplished development professional to play a leading role in establishing the MDC and converting its ambitious vision into a focused programme of investable and deliverable projects.
About the Role
The postholder will lead priority schemes through the development lifecycle, shape business cases and investment propositions, coordinate infrastructure and site readiness, and forge strong relationships with developers, funders, landowners, and delivery partners. The appointment is fixed term to 31 March 2029.
Key Responsibilities

- Prepare business cases, funding submissions, and investment propositions.
- Coordinate land, infrastructure, planning, procurement, and partner activity.
- Provide clear programme, risk, and performance reporting to senior governance.
Key Requirements
- Substantial experience of complex property, regeneration, or development projects.
- Strong commercial, financial, and programme-management capability.
- Ability to work credibly with senior officers, developers, funders, and partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
