M&E Compliance Manager
Imperial College London is seeking to appoint an M&E Compliance Manager to this newly created role, providing authoritative assurance across its complex and technically demanding estate. This is a key opportunity to shape and strengthen maintenance compliance, ensuring that mechanical, electrical and fabric assets, systems and activities meet statutory, regulatory and organisational requirements.

Working across all Imperial campuses, but with an initial focus on the historic South Kensington campus, you will act as a visible and collaborative technical authority. You will oversee compliance across a broad portfolio of M&E and critical engineering assets, including HVAC, electrical distribution, life safety systems, water hygiene, lifts, pressure systems and fire compartmentation.

You will develop and assure robust maintenance governance, ensuring that PPM schedules, statutory inspections, certification, asset information and CAFM records are complete, accurate and aligned with legislation, OEM requirements and recognised industry standards. You will also analyse performance data, identify emerging risks and ensure that non-compliance and overdue actions are escalated promptly.
We are seeking an individual with demonstrable experience of M&E maintenance, engineering compliance and technical assurance across a complex estate portfolio. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of developing systems and using technology to deliver robust compliance management, incorporating PPM programmes, statutory inspections, certification management, asset registers and CAFM systems.
You will bring strong analytical skills and the ability to establish and maintain high-quality compliance documentation, asset records and statutory certification processes. You will also be capable of producing clear and insightful performance, risk and assurance reporting for senior stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be crucial. You will need the ability to influence diverse teams, deliver effective training and foster a visible, collaborative and compliance-first culture. You will also be passionate about continuous improvement and able to use technology, data and modern compliance systems to strengthen assurance and support informed decision-making across the estate.
