M&E Design Lead
Sudlows is seeking an experienced M&E engineering professional to act as the technical design lead on complex data centre and critical infrastructure projects.
Role Overview
The M&E Design Lead will take ownership of the overall technical solution, providing multidisciplinary engineering leadership from feasibility and tender through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover. The successful candidate will personally develop and review designs within their core discipline, while coordinating and assuring the integration of critical power and cooling systems, CSA elements, controls, fire protection, and other specialist systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Working closely with clients, project teams, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensure that designs are technically robust, resilient, compliant, buildable, and aligned with project, programme, and commercial requirements.
- Define design strategies, resolve complex engineering issues, manage technical risk, support procurement and construction, and maintain design intent throughout delivery.

- Substantial M&E design experience.
- Strong technical expertise in either mechanical or electrical engineering.
- The breadth and confidence to lead multidisciplinary building services solutions.
- Data centre experience is highly desirable, although candidates with relevant experience in other critical, high-availability, or regulated environments will also be considered.
Location
The role is based at our Oldham office in Greater Manchester and includes travel to project and client sites across the UK, with occasional travel within Europe.
