M&E Design Manager - East Midlands / Hybrid (Work From Home flex)

Up to £75,000 per annum + Car/Allowance + Comprehensive Benefits Package.

Working for a national M&E / MEP Building Services Contractor.

Overview

An established, growing M&E contractor is seeking an experienced M&E Design Manager to lead and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and public health engineering design packages across a variety of projects.

Acting as the key technical link between design consultants, architects, commercial teams, and site delivery staff, you will ensure all design packages are technically robust, buildable, cost-effective, and fully coordinated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Coordination: Lead design review meetings with external consultants and specialist sub-contractors to drive design progress from early stages through to site construction.
  • BIM & Spatial Coordination: Work within BIM/Navisworks environments to perform clash detection and resolve spatial issues between building services and structural packages.
  • Value Engineering: Review technical specs and propose innovative value engineering solutions to reduce construction costs without compromising quality or performance.
  • Compliance: Ensure all MEP designs strictly comply with Building Regulations, British Standards, client requirements, and project sustainability targets (e.g., BREEAM).
  • Site Technical Support: Oversee the RFI (Request for Information) and Technical Query (TQ) processes to support site-based engineering and installation teams.
  • Stakeholder Interface: Coordinate directly with the main contractor's design lead, structural subtrades, and client bodies.
  • Information Management: Utilize online document management systems to control, update, and issue live technical information and drawings.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
