About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Working Engineering Supervisor to join our engineering team based at a client site in Islington, North London.

This is a hands-on supervisory role combining technical building-services knowledge with responsibility for supporting engineers, coordinating planned and reactive maintenance and ensuring the site remains safe, compliant and operating effectively.

You’ll work closely with the Contract Manager, taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of engineering activities, monitoring PPM and reactive works, supporting statutory compliance and ensuring engineers and specialist subcontractors deliver work safely and to the required standard.

You’ll also be a key point of contact for the client, attending regular meetings and providing technical and operational support across the contract.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and supporting the engineering team to deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
  • Coordinating PPM and reactive tasks through simPRO and the client’s systems.
  • Allocating work to engineers and coordinating specialist subcontractors where required.
  • Monitoring outstanding works, SLAs and statutory maintenance requirements.
  • Ensuring PPM activities are completed correctly and appropriate evidence and documentation is recorded within simPRO.
  • Reviewing completed maintenance activities and identifying any remedial works required.
  • Supporting the Contract Manager with quotations, job trackers and contract performance.
  • Attending and contributing to regular client meetings.
  • Managing subcontractors on site and ensuring work is completed safely, correctly and within agreed timescales.
  • Reviewing RAMS, permits and other relevant Health & Safety documentation before works commence.
  • Ensuring plant rooms, engineering areas, site logbooks and relevant compliance records are maintained to the required standard.
  • Monitoring BMS systems and responding appropriately to plant faults and alarms.
  • Supporting fault finding and the investigation of plant and building-services issues.
  • Identifying potential hazards, technical issues and compliance risks and escalating these appropriately.
  • Supporting plant isolations, making systems safe and issuing permits to work where competent and authorised to do so.
  • Producing technical information and supporting incident reporting where required.
  • Supporting the Contract Manager with monthly client reporting.
  • Reviewing plant operation and identifying opportunities to improve performance and energy efficiency.
  • Delivering toolbox talks and supporting the induction, training and development of engineering team members.
  • Coordinating engineering cover for planned absence and supporting the Contract Manager with day-to-day resource requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience or knowledge across areas such as mechanical systems, BMS, HVAC, refrigeration, heat pumps, air source heat pumps, bore hole systems, condenser loops and energy management would be beneficial.

You’ll be expected to develop a strong understanding of the plant and services within the building, including normal and emergency plant operation, start-up and shutdown procedures, fault finding and optimum plant operation.

Health & Safety

You’ll need NEBOSH National General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent relevant Health & Safety qualification.

Additional qualifications or training in areas such as BMS, HVAC, refrigeration, heat pumps, energy management or other relevant building-services disciplines would be advantageous.

You’ll work within a clear contract structure with support from both operational and senior management:

Regional Director → Contract Manager → Working Supervisor → Site Fabric Engineer

You’ll work closely with the Contract Manager while taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and supervision of engineering activities on site.

Training & progression

We want our people to continue developing their technical and leadership capabilities.

Following successful completion of your probation, a development plan can be agreed between you and your Contract Manager, identifying relevant training and development opportunities based on your experience, aspirations and the requirements of the contract.

This provides the opportunity to continue developing both your technical knowledge and your longer-term career within our Engineering and Facilities Management operation.

Join the team
