M&E Project Manager
We are currently looking for an M&E Project Manager to join the EGL1 Project team, based in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear. The role will hold full responsibility for managing, coordinating and delivering major Building Services, Auxiliary Systems and HV equipment installation contracts across the project.
Your role will encompass:
- Act as the single point of accountability for assigned M&E and HV equipment installation contracts, from contract award through handover and close-out.
- Lead the safe and successful delivery of Building Services, Auxiliary Systems, transformer installation, MV systems, and HV primary and valve installation packages.
- Manage contractor performance against contractual requirements, programme milestones, quality targets and HSE requirements.
- Chair contract review meetings, track actions to close-out, and proactively address non-performance, constraints and commercial exposure.
- Coordinate delivery across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Commercial and Project Controls functions.
- Align contractor programmes with integrated project schedules and support the development and maintenance of Level 4 and Level 5 programmes.
- Monitor package progress, installation readiness and commissioning milestones, providing clear performance updates to Project Management.
- Coordinate design deliverables, technical submissions, temporary works proposals and interfaces between design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Support the resolution of technical queries, design issues and construction constraints, including buildability, constructability and commissioning reviews.
- Manage package budgets, forecast performance, change events, compensation events, variations, claims and contractual risks in collaboration with Commercial and Project Controls.
- Coordinate contractor activities across project locations, ensuring adequate resourcing, safe execution, progressive quality records and complete handover documentation.
- Identify package-level risks and opportunities, implement mitigation plans, and escalate significant issues through the appropriate project governance channels.
- Build effective relationships with the client, consortium partners, contractors and internal stakeholders, representing METLEN in package, progress and coordination meetings.

What you bring to the role:
- A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in project management, construction management or contract management roles.
- Demonstrable experience managing major M&E, industrial, power generation, transmission or HV electrical installation contracts.
- Strong knowledge of contractor management and project delivery within an EPC environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple contractors, work packages and technical interfaces simultaneously.
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience in contract change, performance management, claims and risk.
- Professional qualification or membership such as APM, PMI, CMI, ICE, IET or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to influence and coordinate multidisciplinary teams in joint venture, consortium or multi-party project environments.
- Experience in heavily regulated construction or infrastructure industries.
- Excellent command of English, strong Microsoft Office skills and a full UK driving licence.
