Role: M&E Project Manager - Consultancy
Location: London, Hybrid
Salary: Up to £65,000 + benefits
Type: Full-time, permanent
About the Role
MDE Group are working with a leading building services and project management consultancy who are looking to appoint an M&E Project Manager to join their London team.
This is a client-facing project management position, working across a range of commercial and operational buildings. You’ll take responsibility for managing M&E projects from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning, and handover.
The role would suit an experienced M&E/Building Services Project Manager who enjoys working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors and wants to develop their career within a consultancy environment.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the successful delivery of projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, commercially, and to programme.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing M&E projects through the full project lifecycle
- Working with clients to establish project requirements, scope, and delivery strategy
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and reviewing technical information
- Managing projects through relevant RIBA design stages
- Preparing and managing project programmes
- Managing tender processes, including scopes, tender documentation, analysis, and contractor selection
- Managing contractors, consultants, and specialist subcontractors
- Monitoring project costs, budgets, variations, and change
- Chairing project and progress meetings and managing actions
- Managing project risks, issues, and dependencies
- Reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and as-built information
- Supporting contract administration across JCT and NEC projects
- Overseeing construction, commissioning, and handover
- Producing client reports and maintaining clear project governance
- Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with CDM and relevant statutory requirements

What We're Looking For
We’re looking for someone with a strong M&E/Building Services background and proven project management experience.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience delivering mechanical and electrical building services projects
- Previous experience managing projects from design through to completion
- Strong understanding of M&E systems and building services
- Experience working with consultants, contractors, and clients
- Experience with tendering, procurement, and contractor appointment
- Good commercial awareness, including budgets, variations, and cost control
- Understanding of RIBA design stages
- Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Understanding of CDM and construction health & safety requirements
- Experience working within a consultancy, client-side, or similar project management environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Project

Professional qualifications such as APM, RICS, CIOB, or relevant engineering/building services qualifications would be advantageous.
The Projects
Projects will typically range from £100k to £2m+, covering commercial and operational buildings and a variety of M&E and building services works.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across areas including:
- M&E upgrades and replacement
- Building services refurbishment
- Lifecycle and asset replacement
- Commercial fit-outs
- Energy efficiency and low-carbon projects
- Mechanical and electrical infrastructure
- Projects within occupied/live buildings
