We are expanding our Special Projects team in Glasgow or Edinburgh and are seeking a Mechanical and/or Electrical Project Manager to join our growing highly complex consultancy service.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will encompass project management, quantity surveying, and contract administration across specialist, technically demanding projects. You will:
1. Planning
- Develop and refine Project Management Plans, aligning with project strategy and stakeholder communication.
- Contribute to master programme development, identifying key milestones and assigning roles to project teams.
- Review and update construction programmes, proposing enhancements or changes where necessary.
2. Engaging
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to define project requirements and refine the project brief.
- Chair and lead project meetings for all stakeholders, ensuring clear documentation of actions and timelines.
- Draft and distribute project correspondence, ensuring efficient execution of action items.

3. Procuring
- Assist in drafting and issuing Request for Proposals (RFPs) and appointment documents.
- Develop tender documentation, ensuring full alignment with project needs and clarity for contractors.
- Evaluate tender submissions from technical and cost perspectives.
- Negotiate with suppliers/contractors to secure best-value contracts.
4. Managing Risk & Delivering Value
- Review design packages for compliance with the project brief.
- Contribute to value engineering and risk assessment workshops.
- Track and implement risk mitigation strategies and value-enhancing opportunities.
- Assess contractor delay claims, collaborating with commercial teams to determine entitlement.
5. Project & Contract Administration
- Monitor contractor progress and commercial performance, reporting discrepancies.
- Assess site quality, issuing defect rectification instructions as needed.
- Coordinate design teams to meet contractual obligations.
- Resolve technical queries and requests for information (RFIs).
- Recommend, prepare, and administer construction contracts.
- Enforce document management (including Egis’ Document Management System) and communication protocols.
- Perform quantity surveying: cost estimation, procurement, tendering, change control, and final accounts.
- Identify and appoint sub-consultants while mitigating Egis’ risk exposure.
6. General Duties
- Oversee, review, and approve work of sub-consultants or team members.
- Provide professional development training and mentor junior staff.
- Foster professional relationships with clients, supporting ongoing business growth.
- Contribute to Egis’ culture, maintaining high standards and ethical conduct.

Requirements & Attributes
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in a relevant construction discipline (e.g., Building Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying).
- Practical experience in managing projects with high technical complexity, particularly mechanical, electrical, or process-related assignments.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and contractual frameworks.

Desirable Professional Qualifications
- MRICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) membership or equivalent accreditation.
