Senior Project Manager – Mechanical & Electrical
Location: Yorkshire / Nationwide travel
Hours: 40 hours per week
Reporting to: Head of Projects
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a portfolio of mechanical and electrical projects across the UK.
You will take ownership of projects from initial survey and design through procurement, delivery, commissioning, handover, and final account. The role combines project leadership, client management, commercial responsibility, and business development.
Projects will include M&E, HVAC, decarbonisation, asset replacement, and related building services, often within live and operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multiple projects safely, on programme, within budget, and to required quality standards.
- Manage client relationships and act as a senior point of contact for key stakeholders.
- Oversee surveys, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Monitor programme, costs, risks, resources, variations, and commercial performance.
- Produce accurate forecasts, CVRs, and project reporting.
- Identify and develop opportunities for repeat and additional work.
- Coach and support Project Managers and wider delivery teams.
- Ensure compliance with CDM, health & safety, quality, and project-specific requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and effective lessons learned.
- Provide site presence, including occasional out-of-hours attendance where required.

About You
You will have:
- Proven senior project management experience within M&E, HVAC, building services, or construction.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, ideally in live retail or other business-critical environments.
- Strong client-facing, leadership, and account-management skills.
- Experience with areas such as decarbonisation, heat pumps, AHUs, ventilation, BEMS/controls, or HVAC asset replacement.
- Strong commercial understanding, including budgets, forecasting, variations, procurement, and final accounts.
- Experience leading Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors, and delivery partners.
- Good understanding of design coordination, commissioning, and handover.
- Working knowledge of CDM, construction health & safety, and quality assurance.
- Good Microsoft 365 and project-planning skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Desirable
- Experience with a major multi-site retailer.
- Framework and multi-site programme experience.
- Relevant construction, engineering, or project management qualification.
- Membership of CIBSE, CIOB, APM, or a relevant engineering institution.
Required Certifications
- SMSTS or equivalent.
- Appropriate CSCS card.
- Asbestos Awareness.
- First Aid at Work, or willingness to obtain.

You will be organised, proactive, and solutions-focused, with the ability to operate comfortably with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, and clients.
