Job Purpose
Responsible for the successful delivery of projects from tender handover through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, to specification and in line with company standards. The role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, stakeholder management and technical coordination to achieve successful project outcomes.
Roles & Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Management
- Manage projects from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, specification and company standards.
- Develop and monitor project programmes, identifying critical paths, risks, opportunities and mitigation measures.
- Coordinate design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, testing and handover activities.
- Maintain project documentation, governance requirements, reporting processes and close-out records.
- Lead mobilisation, subcontractor engagement, snagging, handover and lessons learned activities.
- Resolve technical, operational and commercial issues to maintain project performance.
- Drive timely resolution of technical, operational and commercial issues to maintain programme and project performance.

Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
- Act as the main point of contact for project updates, technical discussions and issue resolution.
- Chair progress meetings, manage expectations and provide accurate reporting on programme, risks, costs and performance.
- Promote company values and identify opportunities for repeat business and additional works.
Commercial Management
- Take ownership of project financial performance, profitability and cost recovery.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts, cash flow, CTC reporting and subcontractor valuations.
- Manage commercial risks, opportunities, change control, variations and final account close-out.
- Ensure accurate forecasting and implementation of recovery actions where required.
Risk, Quality & Compliance
- Maintain risk registers and proactively manage project risks, opportunities and mitigation actions.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, legislation, client requirements and company systems.
- Manage quality assurance, inspections, audits, certifications and project records.
- Issue Early Warnings and contractual notifications where required.
Health, Safety & Environmental
- Promote a positive HSE culture across all projects.
- Ensure RAMS approval, site inspections, audits and compliance requirements are completed.
- Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure environmental and sustainability objectives are achieved.
Governance, Reporting & Technical Coordination
- Maintain project dashboards, trackers and management reports.
- Ensure effective control of project actions, decisions, risks and issues.
- Provide operational and commercial updates to senior management.
- Coordinate technical reviews, design changes and controlled change management.
- Ensure designs are coordinated, compliant and deliverable.

Leadership & Resource Management
- Lead project teams including Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors and support functions.
- Coordinate labour, materials and resources to achieve safe and efficient delivery.
- Manage subcontractor performance and promote collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and support team development, training and performance management.
- Lead by example, promoting accountability, professionalism and operational excellence.
- Develop high-performing project teams through coaching, mentoring and effective delegation.
- Drive ownership and accountability across all project stakeholders.
- Produce and maintain programmes to support operational planning.
- Monitor resource utilisation and identify opportunities to improve efficiency across multiple projects.
Direct People Management Responsibilities
- Support the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, and offboarding.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, probation reviews, and performance appraisals in a timely manner.
- Lead, support, and develop your team to achieve individual and business objectives.
- Including Identify training and development needs and support employee growth.
- Manage attendance, absence, performance, and conduct in line with company policies.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
Skills & Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Proven experience managing project budgets and financial reporting.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial awareness.
- Full valid UK Driving Licence.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Project Management Software.
