M&E Quantity Surveyor
Location: Liverpool / Manchester
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 depending on experience
The Role
We are working with an established M&E / Building Services contractor looking to appoint an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor.
The position will primarily operate from the company's Liverpool office, while also supporting projects across Manchester and the wider North West. Candidates based around either Liverpool or Manchester will be considered.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, site teams, and senior management, taking commercial responsibility for M&E projects from initial stages through to final account. A key part of the role will involve detailed valuation work, particularly across projects operating under NEC4 contracts and activity schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of mechanical and electrical projects from initial stages through to completion.
- Prepare and manage interim valuations and applications for payment.
- Produce detailed valuations against project activity schedules.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, applications, and payments.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, and overall commercial performance.
- Identify, price, and manage variations and changes.
- Prepare cost reports and commercial forecasts.
- Maintain accurate project records and detailed commercial spreadsheets.
- Work closely with Project Managers and site teams to monitor project progress against commercial targets.
- Review contract documentation and understand commercial obligations.
- Support projects operating under NEC4 contracts.
- Assist with compensation events, contractual notices, and change management where required.
- Attend project and commercial meetings.
- Undertake site visits across Liverpool, Manchester, and the wider North West.
- Manage final accounts and commercial project close-out.
- Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams.

The Candidate
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within M&E / Building Services.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical contracting.
- Experience commercially managing M&E projects.
- Comfortable producing detailed valuations, applications, and cost reports.
- Good understanding of variations, subcontractor accounts, and final accounts.
- Strong Excel and spreadsheet capability, with the ability to manage detailed activity schedules and valuations.
- NEC / NEC4 experience would be particularly beneficial.
- Commercially aware with strong attention to detail.
- Confident dealing with Project Managers, site teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Comfortable supporting projects across the North West.

The Opportunity
This is a permanent opportunity with an established M&E contractor delivering projects across Liverpool, Manchester, and the wider North West. The position would suit an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor looking for a role combining office, project, and site-based commercial responsibilities across a varied project portfolio.
Salary Guide:
- M&E Quantity Surveyor: circa £60,000 – £65,000
- Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor: circa £70,000 – £75,000
Final package will depend on experience.
