About the Role
Chevron of Stafford is looking for an experienced Motor Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our workshop team.
The main focus of this role will be the servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair of everyday road vehicles and fleet vehicles. We work with a wide range of customers and have a growing number of commercial contracts, including BT fleet vehicles, ambulance services and highway maintenance fleets, so no two days are necessarily the same.
We are looking for someone with previous experience in the motor vehicle sector who understands the importance of quality workmanship, reliability and getting vehicles back on the road safely and efficiently.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out routine servicing and maintenance on cars, vans and commercial vehicles.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Carrying out brake, suspension, steering, exhaust and other general repairs.
- Using modern diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
- Preparing vehicles for MOT and carrying out any required remedial work.
- Maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles to a high standard.
- Working on vehicles covered by our BT, ambulance and highway contracts.
- Carrying out inspections and identifying potential safety or reliability issues.
- Completing job sheets and maintaining accurate records of work undertaken.
- Working efficiently to meet customer and fleet requirements.
- Keeping the workshop, equipment and work areas clean and organised.
- Following health and safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations.

Race & Rally Opportunity
Chevron of Stafford also has an established race and rally division, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to get involved with competition vehicles from time to time.
This could include helping with preparation, servicing, repairs and event support on our race and rally vehicles.
However, this is not a full-time race and rally position at all. The majority of your day-to-day work will be on normal road and fleet vehicles. The motorsport side is an additional opportunity for someone as a thank you.
The Person We're Looking For
We would ideally like someone who has:
- Previous experience working within the motor vehicle industry.
- A good understanding of modern vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs.
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A strong eye for detail and pride in their workmanship.
- A professional and reliable approach to their work.
- The ability to work to deadlines, particularly with fleet and contract vehicles.
- A full UK driving licence.
Relevant qualifications such as IMI Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair & IMI Level 3 Automotive Technician or NVQ Level 3 Motor Vehicle Maintenance are desirable, although practical experience and the right attitude are equally important.
