Our client is currently recruiting an experienced Mechanic who will carry out maintenance, repair, and inspection of their fleet, including HGVs, vans, trailers, and plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all vehicles and equipment are maintained to a high standard, are roadworthy, and comply with legal, environmental, and company requirements.
  • Work as part of the workshop team to minimise downtime, support operational continuity, and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance on HGVs, vans, trailers, and plant equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Assist in delivering preventative maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT and other compliance inspections.
  • Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair requirements as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards within the workshop.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Time-served mechanic or relevant qualification in vehicle maintenance or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience working on HGVs, commercial vehicles, or plant equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs independently.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety in a workshop environment.
  • Ability to complete accurate records and documentation.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, proactive, and strong work ethic.
