Job Description

Vehicle Mechanic / Technician

Location: Dartford Autocentre

Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent

  • Build your technical career with funded MOT Licence training, ADAS and Hybrid & EV Level 2/3 training.

Ready for a mechanic role that gives you more predictability outside of work? At our AA Autocentre in Dartford, you’ll work consistent daytime hours, keep your evenings free and finish at 2:00pm every other Saturday.

You’ll support AA members and non-members with servicing, MOTs, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs in a state-of-the-art facility. With Roadside Patrols able to tow vehicles directly into the centre, you’ll see a varied mix of work and have the specialist equipment and team support you need to get vehicles safely back on the road.

If you enjoy solving mechanical problems, communicating clearly with customers and continuing to build your technical skills, this is an opportunity to do hands-on work in a close-knit team while developing through funded MOT Licence, ADAS and Hybrid & EV Level 2/3 training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs to help keep customers’ vehicles safe, reliable and roadworthy.
  • Investigate faults and identify effective repair solutions, using technical expertise and specialist diagnostic equipment to get to the root of vehicle issues.
  • Carry out vehicle health checks and explain findings clearly, helping customers understand the work their vehicle needs.
  • Create short presentation videos for vehicle health checks so customers receive clear, accessible explanations of key findings.
  • Keep customers informed throughout their visit, translating technical information into straightforward updates and supporting a positive customer experience.
  • Continue developing your technical capability through supported training, including MOT Licence, ADAS and Hybrid & EV Level 2/3 development.

What Do I Need?

You’ll Bring

  • NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, an equivalent qualification, or significant hands-on experience working within the motor trade.
  • Strong servicing, maintenance, repair and diagnostic skills.
  • A practical, problem-solving approach to identifying faults and completing effective repairs.
  • A customer-focused approach and confidence explaining technical information clearly.
  • A full Manual Category B driving licence with 6 points or fewer.
