Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Mechanic role based at John Will Motors in Dunfermline. The Mechanic will inspect, service, and repair used vehicles, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and ready for sale. Day-to-day tasks include:

- Performing scheduled maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues
- Conducting preventive checks
- Completing necessary repairs on a range of vehicle makes and models

The role also involves:
- Working with heavy automotive components
- Documenting work performed
- Following safety standards
- Collaborating with the sales team to prioritize vehicles for preparation
The Mechanic will interact with colleagues and occasionally customers to explain findings and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in general vehicle maintenance, including routine servicing and basic mechanical checks.
- Experience with preventive maintenance practices to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
- Proficiency in maintenance and repair of a variety of vehicle systems (e.g., brakes, suspension, engine, transmission).
- Ability to work safely with heavy equipment and automotive components, following workshop safety procedures.
- Effective troubleshooting skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and performance issues.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in automotive technology or vehicle mechanics.
- Previous experience in a dealership, garage, or automotive repair environment is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and diagnostic reports.
- Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s licence and safe driving record.
