Our client, a growing SME mechanical building-services subcontractor, is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious business with a strong reputation for technical expertise, quality and reliable project delivery.
The Role
You will oversee multiple mechanical projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required standards.
Working closely with the Head of Operations and Company Director, you will support project and site teams while maintaining relationships with clients, main contractors, consultants, designers, subcontractors and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage mechanical projects from pre-construction through to handover.
- Support project teams with programmes, costs, procurement, resources and delivery.
- Monitor progress, key dates, project risks and commercial performance.
- Lead project and client meetings.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications and design information.
- Liaise with consultants and design teams to resolve technical queries.
- Provide practical technical guidance to project and site teams.
- Monitor costs, variations, additional works and procurement.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations, quality requirements and health and safety standards.
- Review inspection plans, commissioning information and completion records.
- Report project progress to the senior management team.

- Experience as a Mechanical Contracts Manager, Mechanical Project Manager, Senior Mechanical Engineer or similar.
- Strong mechanical building-services knowledge.
- Experience delivering mechanical projects from commencement to completion.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and project teams.
- Good commercial awareness and contract-management knowledge.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
- SMSTS and an appropriate CSCS card.
- AutoCAD, Revit or BIM experience.
- Knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts.
- Design-and-build project experience.
