Competitive salary: £37,389 - £44,307

Additional earnings: Standby allowance, overtime and call-out payment

As a Mechanical Craftsperson, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing our water treatment assets, pumping stations, and reservoirs. Your expertise will help ensure a safe, reliable water service for our communities while protecting the environment.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll tackle complex mechanical challenges, develop your technical skills, and work as part of a team that keeps essential services running.

What you'll be doing:

  • Carrying out reactive maintenance, repairs and fault-finding on a wide range of mechanical assets.
  • Manufacturing, modifying and fabricating parts and equipment when required.
  • Producing detailed specifications for replacement components and equipment.
  • Supporting operational teams in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues.
  • Working safely and ensuring compliance with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
  • Participating in the standby and call-out rota to support operational resilience.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of asset performance and reliability.

What we're looking for:

  • A completed apprenticeship in a mechanical or relevant technical discipline.
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with the ability to repair complex mechanical assets.
  • A sound understanding of RAMS and safe systems of work.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-critical environment.
  • Experience working within wastewater treatment processes would be advantageous.
