Mechanical Design Engineer
Glasswell and Last Ltd are a well-established mechanical and electrical contractor, based within Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk but providing design and installation services to industrial clients throughout the UK.
Due to the increasing demands from our clients within the Water, Gas and Electrical Distribution industries we are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design engineer to produce design outputs associated with our offering.
We are looking for an experienced candidate preferably with previous water industry experience in a similar role. Essential for this role is a keen eye for detail, technical knowledge and understanding of the industries we serve.
This role involves producing and managing design outputs such as fabrication drawings, 2D and 3D modelling, bills of quantity, technical queries and any related deliverables.

- Producing 3D and 2D construction models using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, Advanced Steel, Revit, SolidWorks, etc.
- Develop robust CAD models and prepare them for review and comment tracking changes throughout your works.
- Working within our Quality Management Systems to deliver compliant and traceable outputs.
- Liaise with client’s design resource, project managers and others to effectively manage technical queries, answer questions and provide an exceptional customer experience.
- Assist in the production of technical specifications, 2D and 3D Models, Fabrication Drawings, Bills of Materials, Quality Assurance Documentation, etc.
- To liaise with site managers, site supervisors, fitters, fabricators and subcontractors regarding technical queries relating to installation, materials and overall design queries.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Ability to create computer models from formal drawings, sketches, or from scratch
- Experience with Autodesk modelling software such as: AutoCAD, Autodesk P&ID, Plant 3D, Revit, Inventor, Advance Steel, ASD
- Experience with non-modelling software such as: Navisworks, Adobe suite, graphics and design software
- Good computer skills, with experience using software packages like MS Word, Excel, in addition to Outlook, etc.
- Relevant industry experience in a design capacity
- Have a Full UK driving licence and use of your own car

- 8-hour day (40hrs per week)

- Agile working is required and expectations will be set by management periodically.
Salary
- £30-40 (Subject to Negotiation and Previous Experience)
- Salary: 30000 - 40000 GBP Per annum
