🔧 Role: Mechanical Design Engineer
📍 Location: Staffordshire
💰 Salary: £35 - £50ph (Depending on experience)
🏢 Working Pattern: Hybrid
This role is 6 months temporary to begin with, we ideally need you to be immediately available.
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering team working on the design and development of complex mechanical equipment and systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys taking products from initial concept through detailed design, prototyping, testing and into production.
🛠️ The Role
You will be involved in a broad range of mechanical engineering and product development activities, including:
- Designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies and systems
- Producing detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and engineering drawings
- Developing design concepts and assessing solutions against technical, manufacturing, cost and quality requirements
- Carrying out engineering calculations relating to strength, fatigue, durability and functionality
- Supporting prototype builds, testing and product development
- Investigating and resolving design issues identified during development, manufacture and in-service use
- Participating in design reviews, DFMEA, risk assessments and engineering sign-off
- Supporting validation activities and analysing test results
- Working closely with suppliers on the development and release of components
- Providing technical support to manufacturing and other engineering teams
- Supporting continuous improvement, value engineering and cost-reduction initiatives
- Ensuring designs meet relevant safety, compliance and engineering standards
- Managing projects to agreed time, quality and cost requirements

💻 About You
We’re looking for someone with:

- A BEng/BSc or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience in mechanical design and product development
- Strong experience producing detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings
- Experience working across the full product development lifecycle, from concept through to production
- Good understanding of mechanical systems, structures and engineering principles
- Experience with engineering drawings and GD&T
- Knowledge of DFMEA/FMEA, design reviews and validation
- Strong practical problem-solving skills
- Experience working with suppliers and supporting prototype development
- Strong experience with Siemens NX is required
