Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Lancashire
The Opportunity
An established and growing engineering business is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team based in Lancashire. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven engineer to work on a diverse range of bespoke projects, taking designs from initial concept through to manufacture and implementation. Working closely with project, manufacturing, and engineering teams, you will play a key role in delivering innovative engineering solutions for high-profile projects within a technically challenging environment.
Responsibilities
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Design mechanical systems, components, and equipment to meet customer and project requirements.
- Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and associated technical documentation.
- Carry out engineering calculations and design reviews.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers throughout the project lifecycles.
- Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, and installation activities when required.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, quality requirements, and health & safety regulations.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced manufacturability.

Requirements
Essential
- Degree, in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer position.
- Proficient with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar.
- Experience producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings.
- Good understanding of fabrication, machining, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
