An opportunity to develop your engineering career

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity to broaden your technical experience, deepen your engineering knowledge, and take on greater responsibility?

G3 Systems is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing WTB delivery team at Osprey Quay, Portland.

This is much more than a CAD-focused role. You will have the opportunity to work across the full engineering lifecycle – from concept, 3D modelling, and analysis through to manufacturing, integration, installation, and delivery.

Working alongside experienced senior engineers and project managers, you will be exposed to a broad range of engineering challenges, giving you the opportunity to build depth in your existing skills while developing new areas of technical expertise.

About G3 Systems

G3 Systems is an international engineering and construction business delivering complex solutions in challenging environments.

We Design. Deliver. Operate. Support.

Our people are central to what we do, and we actively encourage individuals to develop their skills, expand their experience, and take on new challenges as our business and projects evolve.

The Opportunity

As a Mechanical Design Engineer within the WTB delivery team, you will report to the WTB Project Manager and work closely with the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

You will become involved in a diverse range of engineering activities, working collaboratively with design, project, production, and commercial teams.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop a broader understanding of how engineered products and systems move from design through to manufacture and integration, rather than concentrating on one stage of the process.

You will have the opportunity to develop experience in:

  • Mechanical design and 3D modelling.
  • Engineering analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Integration of multiple services and systems.
  • Manufacturing and assembly considerations.
  • Bills of Materials and configuration.
  • Supplier and manufacturer engagement.
  • Technical specifications and Statements of Work.
  • Tendering, estimating, and budgeting.
  • Design reviews and technical presentations.
  • Production, integration, and installation support.
  • Working within a structured project delivery environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Develop Your Technical Experience

The WTB programme provides an excellent environment for an engineer who wants to expand the breadth and depth of their engineering experience.

You will be encouraged to learn from experienced engineers and become involved in areas beyond your existing core experience. Whether that means developing your capability in FEA, gaining greater exposure to manufacturing and integration, understanding supplier management, or becoming more involved in technical project delivery, the role provides scope to grow as an engineer while contributing to a major programme.

You won't simply be producing designs and handing them over. You'll have the opportunity to see how your engineering decisions translate into real-world manufacture, integration, and delivery.
