Job Details

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a pioneering medtech company specialising in innovative plastic moulded components and automation solutions within the healthcare and life sciences sector. Based in Warrington, this role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of designing scalable, high–performance medical devices incorporating robotics and mechatronics. You will play a critical role in developing and refining complex injection moulded plastics and polymer components, transforming novel concepts into manufacturable products that meet strict regulatory standards. Working closely with a dynamic team, your responsibilities will include concept development, prototyping, materials selection, and collaborating with manufacturing partners to ensure designs are optimised for production and compliance. This is a hands–on, creative role requiring end–to–end ownership of design projects, making an impact on cutting–edge healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Proven experience in product or mechanical design, with a focus on plastics, polymers, and moulded components, particularly injection moulding processes.
  • Hands–on experience designing, prototyping, testing, and iterating mechanical solutions within a regulated industry such as medtech, healthcare, or life sciences.
  • Strong knowledge of materials properties, tolerancing, and processing parameters for plastics and polymer components.
  • Ability to translate concepts through CAD modelling and detail drawings, with practical experience in physical prototyping and validation.
  • Experience in design–for–manufacture, collaborating with tooling and production partners to scale prototypes into repeatable products.
  • Familiarity with robotics, automation, or mechatronics applied within medical devices or healthcare equipment is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem–solving skills with the ability to independently own projects from inception to delivery, balancing creativity with regulatory considerations.
