We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and a Combat Systems Mechanical Engineer to support a major defence engineering programme. The role will focus on the review, correction and release of engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with recognised standards and best practice, while supporting ongoing project deliverables and supplier queries.

The successful candidate will be a highly capable engineer with extensive experience in mechanical design documentation, drawing review, GD&T application, tolerance stack analysis and BS8888 standards.
Location
- Minimum 2 days per week onsite in Barnstaple.
- Hybrid working available.
Security Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain SC Clearance.
- Candidates can commence work with BPSS clearance whilst SC clearance is processed.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve engineering drawings in accordance with BS8888 and company design standards.
- Identify, assess and resolve drawing non–conformances, redline comments and documentation issues.
- Make amendments and updates to existing engineering drawings and associated design documentation.
- Support full project lifecycle engineering activities relating to design documentation and configuration control.
- Conduct tolerance and stack–up analysis to ensure manufacturability and fit–for–purpose designs.
- Apply and review Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical drawing queries.
- Support engineering change activities and drawing release processes.
- Ensure technical documentation reflects industry best practice and regulatory requirements.
- Managing supplier technical requests.
- Supporting simulations and engineering change activities.
- Driving drawing quality improvements and documentation compliance.

Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering HNC.
