Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team based in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design, development, and optimisation of innovative products, taking concepts through to production-ready solutions. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and delivered to the highest quality standards while supporting new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Design and develop new products from concept through to detailed engineering drawings for manufacture.
- Optimise existing products to improve manufacturability, efficiency, and cost while maintaining quality.
- Produce production-ready CAD models and technical drawings, carrying out tolerance analysis and DFMEA throughout the design process.
- Collaborate with Production Engineering, Purchasing, and Development teams to ensure successful delivery of new product projects.
Requirements of the Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience within a mechanical design environment.
- Proven experience of product development from prototype through to volume manufacture.
- Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including folding and welding, with Design for Manufacture expertise is desirable.
- Experience using Solid Edge or a comparable 3D CAD package, together with GD&T, DFMEA, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
