AC/DC Induction Motor Mechanical Designer
We are hiring for an AC/DC induction motor mechanical designer, to create detailed mechanical drawings for alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) induction motors.
Main Responsibilities
- Drafting Drawings: Create 2D drawings and 3D models of motor General Arrangement drawings and motor components.
- Specifying Components: Detail rotors, stators, armatures, housings, and other motor components.
- Defining Tolerances: Apply precise geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Collaborating: Work closely with mechanical fitters to refine designs.
- Problem Solving: Proactively resolve technical problems to improve quality and liaise with the manufacturing team to facilitate their work.
- Design Quality into the Product: Improve manufacturability.

This is a new role, so the successful applicant will have the opportunity to set up their own ways of working, be it on the drawing organization system and PLM, managing the part numbers and change processes, or in building quality into the final product. They will be supported by a team of engineers who has extensive hands-on technical experience on motors.
Ideal Applicant
The ideal applicant would have experience in motor design and ideally academic credentials in mechanical engineering. We are using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2026, so experience in this or similar software would be ideal.
Additionally, the successful applicant should have knowledge and experience (or desire to learn) in order to:
- Engineer change controls in place
- Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
- Respond to change requests and efficiency improvement suggestions
- Design for manufacture and assembly efficiently applied
- Engineer change proactively to drive improvement
- Work with multidisciplinary teams for the Gated Review Process
- Be a creative team player, able to work autonomously on your own as well as with electrical, mechanical, and project professionals
- Exemplify problem solving and time management
