Role Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to the design and development of precision mechanical products, helping to bring new technologies from concept through to manufacture. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with both engineering and production teams, influencing products at every stage of their development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Create assembly models and fully toleranced manufacturing drawings.
  • Design components suitable for CNC machining and production.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and assembly teams to optimise designs.
  • Support product development activities from concept through to production.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, CAD records, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Support prototype development using technologies such as 3D scanning and 3D printing.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least 3 years' experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering role.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience using SolidWorks.
  • Strong 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawing experience.
  • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing and manufacturing drawing standards.
  • Understanding of CNC machining and Design for Manufacture principles.
  • Knowledge of engineering materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
