About Our Client

Our client has nearly 50 years of expertise in designing, developing, and manufacturing bespoke automation and robotic systems for a diverse range of industries. They are recognized as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the UK. Due to continued success and strategic growth, they are seeking to recruit an experienced Lead/Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their successful team and deliver innovative special purpose automation machinery projects.

  • Designing and overseeing a range of special purpose machine projects from order acceptance to customer hand over.
  • Performing mechanical design and detailing functions using 3D CAD within the allocated project timeframe.
  • Arranging Design Reviews to ensure designs meet requirements and budgetary constraints.
  • Obtaining Design Pass Off from the customer on time and to the project plan.
  • Producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) on time and within budget.
  • Communicating effectively with customers, suppliers, and team members.
  • Assisting the electrical design process through clear and effective communication.
  • Compiling a build folder and communicating build details to machine tool fitters.
  • Providing direction and support to fitters, electricians, and other engineers.
  • Undertaking visits to customer sites to understand requirements and obtain necessary measurements.
  • Assessing and improving design concepts to reduce risks, costs, and lead times.
  • Checking design work produced by other designers for accuracy.
  • Conducting project reviews with customers and reporting on project status.
  • Constructing and maintaining a comprehensive Technical Construction File (TCF).
  • Carrying out machine risk assessments during the design phase.
  • Leading projects during the development and installation phases.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety rules, guidelines, and policies.
