Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineer role based in Allostock. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop farm equipment and machinery, translating customer requirements and farm use cases into robust mechanical solutions. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Creating detailed CAD models and drawings
  • Performing design calculations
  • Collaborating with production and service teams to ensure manufacturability and reliability
  • Prototyping, testing, and refining designs based on performance data and user feedback
  • Maintaining documentation and supporting continuous improvement of existing products

The engineer will work closely with stakeholders to ensure designs align with safety standards, cost targets, and operational efficiency goals.

Qualifications

  • Strong Design Engineering and Product Design skills, with experience turning functional requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions
  • Expertise in Mechanical Engineering and Machine Design, including knowledge of materials, mechanics, and structural integrity for agricultural equipment
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar software, for 3D modeling and technical drawing creation
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to perform basic engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design optimization
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with production, service, and customers, and to document designs clearly
  • Relevant qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in mechanical design
  • Experience with agricultural machinery or heavy equipment design, knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., welding, machining, fabrication), and familiarity with safety and quality standards are beneficial
