Mechanical Design Engineer

Employer: Ripple
Location: Daventry
Salary: Competitive
Closing date: 23 Sep 2026

Job Details

An established Daventry manufacturer of specialist fabricated steel structures for vehicle applications is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to sit with their on-site production and fabrication team.

You will turn customer requirements into 3D CAD and manufacturing drawings, then see those parts through laser, CNC, weld and build. A lot of the work is tubular and sheet fabrications, plus machined parts, often reverse-engineered from an existing vehicle or structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D CAD and detailed manufacturing drawings for tube, sheet, and machined parts
  • Work daily with welders, machinists, and the fabrication team to get designs built
  • Reverse-engineer and measure existing structures (CMM / portable metrology) so new work fits first time
  • Support quality, production, and occasional site visits, as you would in a small manufacturer
  • Deal with customers on design intent, tolerances, and practical manufacturing

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
