About Your New Job as Mechanical Design Engineer
- Design and develop mechanical building services solutions from concept to installation.
- Produce mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
- Develop coordinated drawings and documentation using AutoCAD and BIM processes.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and project meetings.
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, BS EN Standards, and CIBSE guidance.
- Support value engineering and cost-effective design solutions.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and project handover.
- Undertake site visits as required to support project delivery.

What Skills You Need as Mechanical Design Engineer
- Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer, or Product Design role.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and public health systems.
- Knowledge of British Standards, Building Regulations, and CIBSE guidance.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering calculation software.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and digital project collaboration tools.

Desirable Qualities
- Chartered status or working towards membership with CIBSE, IMechE, or equivalent.
- Experience with BIM workflows and coordinated design environments.
- Familiarity with BIM360, Dalux, 4Projects, Morta, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of BREEAM, LEED, or WELL sustainability frameworks.
- Experience delivering commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial, or data center projects.
- Understanding of modular and off-site construction methodologies.
