Role Description

This full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineer role is based in Leicestershire. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop mechanical components and systems, create detailed 3D models and drawings using CAD tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine concepts into manufacturable products. The role also involves:

  • Troubleshooting mechanical issues
  • Implementing design improvements
  • Working closely with production and suppliers to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and quality targets

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Machine Design, with the ability to perform relevant calculations and analyses.
  • Proficiency in Design Engineering and Product Design, including turning requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Experience in the Drone/Aerospace industry is desirable, but not compulsory.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and tolerance/fit considerations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and standards and prepare clear engineering documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams on-site.
  • Good communication skills and experience participating in design reviews; familiarity with product development lifecycle is beneficial.
  • Experience in industrial or consumer product development and exposure to quality, safety, or regulatory requirements is an advantage.
