Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Markham Vale, Chesterfield (Full-time, Office Based – 5 Days per Week)

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 + Benefits

Are you a Mechanical Engineering graduate or a Mechanical Design Engineer looking for your next challenge?

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team in Markham Vale. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide variety of engineering projects, helping customers turn their requirements into practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.

This is a varied role that combines mechanical design, technical problem solving and quotation preparation. Working from customer drawings and specifications, you'll create designs, develop engineering solutions and prepare accurate technical quotations. It's an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of engineering and wants to develop their career in a supportive environment.

The Role

  • Interpreting customer drawings, specifications and technical requirements.
  • Producing mechanical designs using CAD and 3D modelling software.
  • Supporting mechanical and piping design projects.
  • Developing practical engineering solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Preparing accurate quotations, estimates and technical proposals based on drawings and specifications.
  • Producing technical documentation and design information.
  • Liaising with customers to clarify project requirements.
  • Occasionally visiting customer sites to discuss projects and technical solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with engineering and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

About You

We're open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds, including recent graduates and those with several years' commercial experience.

You'll ideally have exposure to some or all of the following:

  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • CAD design experience.
  • 3D modelling.
  • Revit and/or BIM.
  • Mechanical engineering design.
  • Piping or process engineering (desirable).
  • Producing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Preparing quotations or estimates from engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.

Location

This role is based at our offices in Markham Vale, Chesterfield, working five days per week onsite, with occasional travel to customer sites.

Due to the office-based nature of the role, we're ideally looking for candidates who live within approximately one hour's commute of Markham Vale.
