Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract)
Details:
Location: Great Yarmouth, Norfolk (on-site)
Contract: 6 months, Outside IR35
Hours: 37 per week
Rate: Negotiable
About the Client:
Our client is an established engineering manufacturer supplying safety-critical equipment to the oil & gas and marine sectors. Innovation sits at the heart of the business, and they’re investing in their New Product Development (NPD) programme to bring the next generation of products to market.
The Role:
As a mid-level Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll work closely with the R&D team to design and develop new and existing products, taking concepts through to detailed designs ready for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D drawings in SolidWorks
- Work alongside the R&D team to develop new product concepts and improve existing designs
- Ensure designs meet technical specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support design reviews, prototyping, and testing activities
- Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control

What you’ll bring:
- Degree, HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer at mid-level
- Strong SolidWorks skills
- Experience in oil & gas or subsea would be a strong advantage
- Experience with hydraulic or large-scale mechanical systems would be beneficial
- Good attention to detail and a structured approach to your work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to travel reliably to the Great Yarmouth site
