Role Overview
Our client is looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established Building Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Mechanical Engineer who is looking to further develop their technical expertise while working on a diverse range of projects across sectors such as commercial, industrial, life sciences, defence, infrastructure and the wider built environment.

Working as part of a collaborative team of experienced engineers and technicians, you will be responsible for the design and specification of mechanical building services systems, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical and quality standards. You'll gain exposure to a variety of challenging projects, contribute to multidisciplinary design teams, and play an active role in supporting and mentoring early-career professionals.
The ideal candidate will already have experience delivering mechanical building services projects and be working towards Chartered Engineer status. You'll be someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, is committed to technical excellence, and takes pride in delivering high-quality solutions that meet client expectations.

Key responsibilities
- Design and specify mechanical building services systems in accordance with current regulations, industry standards and project requirements.
- Prepare and contribute to technical design deliverables, including calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop integrated and effective design solutions.
- Support project delivery across a variety of sectors, ensuring quality, compliance and client requirements are met.
- Promote and maintain quality assurance and compliance standards throughout project lifecycles.
- Assist in the development and mentoring of graduate and junior engineers.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes, capabilities and technical standards.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders as required.

Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience delivering mechanical building services design projects.
- Progressing towards Chartered Engineer status (CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of current building services regulations, standards and design practices.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously.
- A proactive approach with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
