Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take the next step in your career?

Hays are working with an SME engineering consultancy who are seeking talented Mechanical Design Engineers to join their growing Building Services teams. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, industrial, and public sector developments.

Your New Role:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering innovative and sustainable mechanical building services designs from concept through to completion. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to high-quality engineering solutions that meet client expectations and project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing mechanical building services designs, calculations, specifications, and reports.
  • Designing HVAC systems, heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic water services.
  • Supporting projects through all RIBA stages.
  • Liaising with clients, architects, contractors, and internal design teams.
  • Undertaking site visits and surveys where required.
  • Ensuring designs comply with current regulations, standards, and sustainability targets.
  • Using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, or similar design packages.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within a Building Services consultancy or design environment.
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems for buildings.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant design and modelling software.
  • Working towards or already holding Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
