Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: £35k-£45k (depending on experience)
Location: Cambridgeshire

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established and innovative product development business. The company designs and manufactures high-quality, technically complex electro-mechanical products, taking projects from initial concept and development through to production.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Engineer looking to develop their career within a hands-on engineering environment. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, gaining exposure to the full product development lifecycle while developing your ability to take ownership of mechanical design projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop designs from initial concept through to prototype, manufacture and production
  • Produce 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings
  • Build and assemble prototypes
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation, assembly instructions and technical drawings
  • Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve mechanical issues
  • Investigate new materials, manufacturing processes and finishing techniques

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline
  • 3D CAD design skills – Solidworks
  • Understand mechanical manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and finishing techniques
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping or workshop-based activities
  • Experience developing consumer, scientific or electro-mechanical products
