Mechanical Design Engineer – Decarbonisation & Energy Infrastructure | Hybrid

At Dalkia UK, we're delivering some of the UK's most exciting decarbonisation and energy infrastructure projects, helping hospitals, universities, commercial and industrial clients transition to a more sustainable future.

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team, taking ownership of mechanical design, managing external consultants through the RIBA design stages, and delivering technically robust solutions across complex live operational environments.

You'll work on a diverse portfolio of projects including:

  • Energy Centres
  • Air Source & Ground Source Heat Pump installations
  • Combined Heat & Power (CHP) schemes
  • Boiler and Chiller replacements
  • District Heating Networks
  • Steam, LTHW, MTHW & HTHW systems
  • Chilled Water Systems
  • Domestic Hot & Cold Water Services
  • Plant Rooms & Pumping Systems
  • HVAC & Air Handling Systems
  • HV/LV Electrical Infrastructure
  • Standby Generation, UPS & Battery Storage
  • Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Large-scale retrofit and decarbonisation programmes

You'll collaborate with project managers, commercial teams, and multidisciplinary engineering specialists to develop innovative, buildable designs that improve energy performance, resilience, and sustainability while minimizing disruption within live operational sites.

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree
  • 3–5+ years' experience in mechanical building services or energy infrastructure design
  • Experience designing major plant, heating, and cooling systems
  • Strong knowledge of the RIBA design process
  • A passion for engineering excellence and delivering net-zero solutions
