Reporting to the Senior Engineer Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for delivering functional, reliable Electromechanical/Mechanical designs based on marketing specifications and providing technical solutions within the development of industrial printers. This exciting role involves designing prototypes, creating 3D models, assessing performance, and enhancing designs to meet customer requirements.

Experience in designing dynamic mechanical systems is essential. This is an onsite position located in Nottingham, UK.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Engaging in brainstorming, concept generation, rapid prototyping, and testing to identify issues, solve problems, and enhance designs.
- System-level design of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
- Participating in design reviews and conducting DFMEA on concepts and prototypes to identify potential failure modes and strengthen designs.
- Using SolidWorks CAD to produce manufacturing documentation (drawings, specifications, etc.).
- Developing test plans to validate design solutions.
- Contributing to, and when needed leading, technical reviews, feasibility studies, and project assessments, while providing technical support to other departments.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Electromechanical/Mechanical background, ideally with experience designing small-size products.
- Experience designing dynamic mechanical systems.
- Willingness to perform hands-on assembly and test work for design verification.
- Ability to communicate technical matters clearly, both verbally and in writing.
