About Mills CNC

Mills CNC are the sole distributor of DN Solutions Machine Tools within the UK and Ireland – working across the vast array of manufacturing businesses within this varied industry sector, Mills CNC provide CNC machining solutions that can meet any specification.

We specialize in delivering turnkey solutions for manufacturing clients. Our team thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, working together to meet deadlines and produce high-quality assemblies. We're now seeking an additional Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Automation team and contribute to exciting projects.

Role Overview

Main Job Functions are:

  • To create detailed engineering drawings using 3D CAD software including the generation of bill of materials, general arrangements and detailed manufacturing drawings whilst adhering to standard geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
  • To assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for turnkey automation projects.
  • To support engineering team with drawing releases and change requests including document control and engineer requirements for design information or clarification.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently when needed.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

You must live within commuting distance of Leamington Spa

Essential Skills or Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor although experience with other similar 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Catia, Fusion 360 etc. would also be considered.
  • Experience with Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel, Teams etc.

Desirable Skills or Qualifications

  • Understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic components and systems for automation would be an advantage.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC milling and turning, 3D printing and welded fabrication would be an advantage.
  • Understanding the mechanical design of automation systems, jigs and fixtures, robot tooling and operation and bespoke machine tending systems would be an advantage.
