Mechanical Design Engineer

£40-42k + Bonus, Company Health Insurance, Pension

A leading manufacturer of high-tech bespoke machinery is now on the lookout for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their close-knit team.

Part of a global technology group, the business combines expertise in many different areas to help blue-chip manufacturers improve productivity, quality and manufacturing performance across sectors including Medical Devices, Aerospace, Automotive, Electronics and Precision Engineering.

Mechanical Design Engineer – The Role:

  • Design bespoke mechanical solutions for machine vision and industrial automation systems using SolidWorks
  • Develop mechanical concepts, detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation
  • Produce pneumatic system designs, schematics and component layouts
  • Specify mechanical components for bespoke automation and inspection equipment
  • Create machine renders and concept visuals to support customer presentations and sales activities
  • Work closely with Design and Applications Engineering teams to deliver projects on time
  • Support the development of innovative machine vision and automation technologies
  • Assist with the hands-on mechanical build and development of bespoke systems where required

Mechanical Design Engineer – What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 3 years' Mechanical Design experience within Industrial Automation or Special Purpose Machinery
  • Strong SolidWorks 3D CAD experience
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience designing pneumatic systems and mechanical assemblies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple projects and work effectively to deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach

Desirable Experience:

  • Machine Vision or Vision System integration
  • Rendering software such as Blender or SolidWorks Visualize
  • 3D printing technologies
  • Full UK Driving Licence
